Poem – Motherhood by Parker
Nothing can prepare us for motherhood,
A deep connection,
A natural mothering instinct,
A bond,
Rooted in the womb of waterfalls,
We hope we don’t fall into the waters,
Emotional pain,
The stones that we have to jump,
Cross,
As the waters swirl below our feet,
As we hold on tightly,
To get to the other side,
As we are given words of reassurance,
Everything will be fine.
Just keep breathing,
Slow rhythmic breaths,
Waiting anxiously,
Anticipating the relief,
To see our new born child.
To welcome him into the World,
We hope he will be fine,
We hope he will be well,
We hope he will be happy,
We hope he will be the most,
Wonderful person in the whole World.
As we hear the scream,
the bellowing sound,
As they wrap him in a blanket,
As we hold our precious child,
For the first time,
A bond of motherhood,
That grows stronger,
Every day with our kind tender words,
Words of affection,
Thoughts of Love,
Actions of embrace,
Motherhood…
